Position Overview
This is a remote, project-based position ideally suited for individuals with strong communication skills, video production experience, and an interest in international current affairs. The role involves creating short, informative videos based on articles published in The Red Horizon’s monthly issues.
This is not a simple reading or text-to-video task. The selected candidate will be responsible for crafting compelling scripts based on assigned articles, voicing the narration in clear, professional English, and editing the content into visually engaging videos suitable for public viewing on YouTube.
All videos must be narrated using the candidate’s own natural voice. AI-generated voiceovers will not be accepted.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze selected articles from each monthly issue
- Adapt article content into concise, audience-friendly video scripts
- Record high-quality voiceover narration using your own voice
- Create visually engaging video presentations using basic editing tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, iMovie, etc.)
- Align visuals (text overlays, imagery, highlights) with the narrated content to enhance viewer engagement
- Deliver fully edited, YouTube-ready videos within agreed deadlines
- Ensure content reflects The Red Horizon’s editorial tone and standards
Required Qualifications
- Excellent spoken English with a clear, confident, and articulate delivery
- Ability to summarize and restructure written content into video script format
- Basic video editing skills and proficiency with accessible editing tools
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet recurring deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and remotely
- Access to a quiet recording environment and a reliable microphone setup
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in video production, voiceover work, or educational/presentational video creation
- Familiarity with YouTube content standards and visual formatting
- Interest or academic background in journalism, political science, public policy, or international affairs
- Experience working with digital publications or online media platforms
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex written material clearly and effectively to a general audience
Work Structure & Compensation
- This is a freelance, project-based role with monthly assignments
- Compensation is determined per video, based on length, scope, and complexity
- Assignments align with The Red Horizon’s publishing schedule (monthly)
- Flexible working hours; work is completed remotely
